I was born in Quebec City Canada in 1973, where I ate poutine, meat pies, and spoke twangy French. My father worked for Avis in HR, and then decided to apply for a job at Abbott labs, which relocated us to a western suburb of Paris, France. I was 5. We spent 3 and a half wonderful years eating pastries, French cooking that my mom perfected, and frolicking in the Bois De Boulogne.
My father then got promoted to Abbott in Illinois. We lived in a Marriot hotel room for the first 3 months, learning about Twinkies, Dr. Pepper, doughnut cereal, Pac Man, Centipede, Empire Carpets, and car dealerships. Needless to say, each of my family members gained at least 10 pounds. We were introduced into school and my brother and I started our career as outcasts and mediocre students. I went through school in a haze and then was awakened when I quit band and started taking art, photography and ballet in high school.
Since then I haven't stopped. I went to Columbia College part time for photography and studied ballet full time. I quit dance to focus all of my attention on photography, but have always incorporated a physical aspect to my imagery, be it a gesture or body shape.
I also spend a large part of my time training in Wushu (Chinese Martial Arts) and continuing to learn about the human body in motion.
